Explore Russia with Ease

Citizens of the USA and most western countries traveling for the purpose of tourism are required to possess a valid visa issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for entry into Russia. 

Due to sanctions imposed upon the Russian Federation pertaining to SWIFT currency transfers, US and most western issued Visa/Mastercard branded cards will not work in Russia. You are encouraged to bring cash and exchange for rubles when you arrive. 

While English is not widely spoken in Russia, most public places of transport, hotels, museums have signage in English and you are most likely to find English speakers in shops and touristic places. However, we recommend you at least learn a few words in Russian. When a Russian hears a foreigner trying to speak Russian, they often feel flattered that you are at least trying to learn their language and will do their best to help and communicate with you.
